Amal Rogers

Amal Rogers uses art as a means for personal, social and political transformation. She is a Somali/American dance artist and community educator who works to challenge oppressive structures. Amal provides opportunities for youth and adults to experience their body in space with others in positive and changing ways. She teaches diverse techniques in diverse settings and is an active dance maker and performer. She acts as an editor and as the Community Outreach Director for the online publication Art For Ourselves. Amal holds a Masters in dance from Mills College. She is a certified bodyworker and a published researcher. She is the rehearsal director for the Somali Museum Dance Troupe and on the teaching roster of the East Side Arts Center. Amal is new to the Twin Cities and is excited to be teaching with the Cowles Center
