Join Artist in Residence, Sally Rousse, as she takes you back to 1888 when The Cowles Center’s complex was first built as a Masonic Temple. Learn about the Unique Theater which stood in what is now the main lobby, where Charlie Chaplin had some of his earliest performances, and experience the Goodale Theater, formerly the Shubert (the oldest theater in Downtown Minneapolis), whose history dates back to 1910 when it opened the same day as its sister theater, the Fitzgerald in St. Paul.
Sally Rousse has a rich history not just with the building, but also with some of its long-standing tenants. Hear her personal anecdotes while walking through our studios and end your night with a performance by one of Minnesota’s leading professional dance companies.

Each tour will end in the main lobby where the group will be greeted by the Artistic Directors of that evening’s performance to take questions over a complimentary drink from Illusion concessions.
