Pivotal Moment - Spring Workshop Series

Pivotal Moment provides accessible space for artists to explore material, experiment with teaching, and receive peer-to-peer feedback. Geared towards university dance students, graduates, and young professionals who are new to the Twin Cities, the series provides space for artists who are looking to challenge themselves with like-minded professionals.

Classes are held from 9:30–11:30 am in the Target Education Studio and are free to attend. Participants receive one free hour of rehearsal space for each session they attend.

The Pivotal Moment program initiated by the Cowles Center's Education Department came just at the time I needed it. It had been a year since I had graduated from a college dance program and I was missing moving amongst my peers, as well as feeling a little stagnant in my career as a professional dancer/choreographer. Pivotal Moment gave me the opportunity to test out teaching my movement in a safe space and take on new movement/techniques from my fellow dancers who were going through the same life questions as me. It was a place for us to openly discuss life as a young artist and imagine how to move past the roadblocks we were facing. After every session, I walked away with new information about myself as a dancer and how I want to impact the Twin Cities dance community. It was such a highlight of my summer and I look forward to continuing the connections I had made during these workshops. I am endlessly grateful to the Education Department and the Cowles Center as a whole for creating this program.” - Emma Marler, Pivotal Moment Artist, Fall 2017
