During Student Matinees, students are encouraged to be active participants rather than passive observers; students are invited to question dance, engage their curiosity, envision themselves as dancers and art-makers, and move their bodies either from their seats or on the stage.

  • Collide Theatrical: Romeo & Juliet - Thursday, February 13th, 2020 - (Jazz / Musical Theatre) *Recommended for 6th-12th grade
  • TU Dance - Thursday, April 30th, 2020 - (Contemporary Dance)
  • Mixtape - Thursday, May 14th, 2020 and Friday, May 15th, 2020 - (Hip Hop) 


Cultural Experiences Partnership Program 

Free Student Matinee Tickets & Busing for MPS 8th Grade Teachers and Students 
Every Minneapolis Public School 8th-grade student will attend a matinee performance of a local professional dance company in The Cowles Center's historic Goodale Theater. Tickets and busing for this field trip are completely funded. Tickets should be purchased for the entire grade band. Busing may be reserved by following the field trip request form instructions below after reserving tickets from The Cowles Center.
  • Order bussing through the MPS field trip request form
  • Under payment method select non MPS Org, select Achieve Minneapolis in the drop down menu
  • Write "Bill to MPS Arts" in the Special Instructions box
