Trade Offs

McKnight dancer fellows and SOLO commissioned choreographers
Free For All Dance Makers

Trade Offs is an occasional series of meetings/exchanges open to all dance makers. We will speak openly and discuss everything from life lessons to cautionary tales, though we’ll avoid “best practices” as this is not a one-size-fits-all kind of discussion. Trade Offs will be hosted by Michèle Steinwald at The Cowles Center and will welcome new guest artists to the discussion as available. Trade Offs will take place at The Cowles Center’s Target Education Studio, 2nd floor.

Guest Choreographers

Derick Grant (NYC - choreographer for Kaleena Miller)
Idan Sharabi (Israel - choreographer for Alanna Morris-Van Tassel)
Tamara Ober (MN - choreographer for Brian Evans)
Deja Stowers (MN - choreographer for Kenna-Camara Cottman)
About Solo: McKnight Dance Fellows

Each year three exceptional dancers receive the coveted honor of a McKnight Dancer Fellowship. To celebrate them, we commission three new solo dances—one for each of them—from a choreographer of their choice. The dance fellows awarded in 2014/15 have selected an amazing and eclectic group of local, national and international choreographers to bring their choreographic imaginations to create new works expressly tailored to these six exceptional performers.

The result is SOLO, an evening of six world premieres—beautiful, fascinating new works that range from contemporary ballet to high energy tap to intimate
dance theater, and more.
