Goodale Theater

This fall at The Cowles Center, Minnesota Dance Theatre turns its focus to the future. Honoring the company’s longstanding commitment to the cultivation of new dances, MDT Artistic Director Lise Houlton has commissioned three world premieres pairing beloved local artists and innovators with MDT’s exceptionally versatile performers. Drawing from their extensive performing experience with such respected local companies as James Sewell Ballet, TU Dance, and Black Label Movement and from their own distinctive aesthetic exploration, choreographers Penelope Freeh, Darwin Black, and Elayna Waxse will each create a never-before-seen work for an evening that promises to be an eclectic celebration of the Twin Cities’ vibrant dance community.

About Minnesota Dance Theatre
Minnesota Dance Theatre is a non-profit professional dance company and school founded in 1962 by Loyce Houlton, one of the first American women to gain national and international recognition as a choreographer, teacher, and producer. As MDT celebrates a deep and personal connection to its past, it is presently flourishing with renewed creativity and energy springing from Lise Houlton’s artistic leadership. Under her direction, the company and school aspire to maintain the highest international artistic standards, and attract audiences, dancers, choreographers, and students from all cultural and economic backgrounds to the art of dance. MDT is one of Minnesota’s cultural treasures and an acclaimed arts leader in our state, our region, and in the nation.  www.mndance.org
