Link Vostok, East/West International Dance Exchange

Discusses dance opportunities in Latvia and their recent research trip to Riga

Lisa First (Executive Director, Link Vostok) and Anita Demants (Board Member, originally from Latvia) travelled to Riga, Latvia this past January on a research trip with the goal of initiating new dance partnerships and creating opportunities for Minnesota dance writers, artists, and curators to be in dialogue with Latvian dance critics, artists, and festival producers. Surpassing their expectations, they found great excitement around the possibility of future connections between Riga and the Twin Cities. Lisa and Anita look forward to sharing the results of their research trip and leveraging Link Vostok as a local resource as well as a cross-cultural facilitator of international dance exchange. The Link Vostok, East/West International Dance Exchange application process will be outlined.

Riga is an easy city to get around in and many people speak English along with Latvian, Russian and German. It is more affordable than many European cities, of great natural beauty situated on the Baltic Sea and has a unique history as one of three Baltic states.
