For its 32nd Fall Season, Zenon Dance Company was selected by Northrop’s McKnight International Artist Program as the host company for Cuban choreographer Osnel Delgado, the 2014 Northrop McKnight International Artist. Delgado created his first dance work on a U.S. company for Zenon, “Coming Home, which the company premieres during its 32nd Fall Season. The vibrant, physically demanding work integrates modern dance, capoeira and abstracted gestures from the game of baseball. Also on the program is the world premiere of a new work for Zenon by Brooklyn-based choreographer Vanessa Anspaugh. Reprises include Stefanie Batten Bland’s “Caught,” which the Pioneer Press enthused was packed with “spectacular daredevil dancing,” and Wynne Fricke’s duet “My Very Empty Mouth,” which was filled with “delicacy and strength….[and a] sculptural sensibility” wrote the Star Tribune.
Run time: 1 hour, 45 minutes, 15 minute intermission.
