Cheremosh Ukrainian Dance Ensemble captivates audiences with its invigorating performance of traditional folk dances. Spirit of Ukraine provides a glimpse of various regions of Ukraine including Transcarpathia, Hutzulshchyna and others - each represented by its own authentic costumes, style and mood.
Ukrainian dance debuted in the Twin Cities in 1934, when founding members of Minneapolis’ own dance group performed at the historic Shubert Theater. Nearly 80 years later, the troupe returns for a celebration of past and present, premiering several new dances choreographed by renowned artistic directors.
Performed by dancers of all ages, Spirit of Ukraine showcases cultural pride and Ukraine’s rich historical past. Don’t miss this breathtaking display of brilliant hues and unique choreography that culminates with a crowd-pleasing “Hopak!”
This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
